Since its founding in 2010, Safe Harbor Title Company has served as a trusted partner for residential and commercial real estate transactions throughout Virginia and across the nation.
Melissa McPherson is president of Safe Harbor Title Company, a title insurance agency headquartered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Founded in 2010, Safe Harbor Title is a representation of the experience and knowledge Melissa gained while working as a title agency business development representative for national title underwriters, i.e. all the capabilities, efficiencies and sophistication of a Fortune 500 company, paired with the familiarity, charm and local flare of a small business.
Melissa refers to herself as an “accidental entrepreneur,” and is passionate about encouraging others to pursue the career that is meant for them, not the one expected of them, as she did, quite literally by accident. She also spends quite a bit of time educating young people on the title insurance industry and the many career opportunities it affords – there is something for everyone!
Melissa is a licensed title insurance agent in the Commonwealth of Virginia and holds non-resident licenses in DE, MD, NC, SC, GA, FL, TN and MI. She is also a licensed real estate agent in Virginia.
She served on the Board of CREW Richmond for 6 years, assuming the role of President in 2013. In 2015, Melissa was nominated for membership into the VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) School of Business Real Estate Circle of Excellence and was also honored by CREW Richmond as one of the “Top 25 Women to Watch in Richmond Commercial Real Estate.” In 2018 she was invited to become a member of the Virginia Council of CEOs.
Melissa serves on the Board of Home Builders Association of Richmond. She is also a member of Urban Land Institute of Virginia, Virginia Land Title Association, American Land Title Association, CREW Richmond, Greater Richmond Association of Commercial Real Estate, Real Estate Services Providers Council, Richmond Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors. She graduated from George Mason University in 1998 with a B.A. in Government & Politics.
